The Iota Center
A great non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and exhibiting abstract films and video with an emphasis on "visual music".
Headed by the fantastic computer abstract filmmaker Larry Cuba and the very talented digital video maker Jeremy Speed Schwartz.
I used to work at their archive headquarters as a paid intern and its a great place to see obscure abstract films and visual music pieces. I saw so much great work at their archive including all of Jordan Belson's movies, all of Hans Richter's work, Geoffrey Jones' industrial movies, Oskar Fischinger, Sky David, Len Lye, some obscure films by Stan Brakhage, all of Bruce Conner's great experimental movies, John Whitney, and James Whitney.
If you live in Los Angeles make sure to go to their occasional "Salons" in Westwood!
